1. Feel a sense of leisure: Slow down and savor the change of seasons as you walk through the neighborhood and feel the gentle breeze from the East River on your skin while looking at the lovely trees that have changed from flowers to warm light filtering through green leaves. Enjoy the simple things such as the longer days and changing colors of the light that bring a sense of calm and relaxation.
Blaise Cendrars: Poetry is Everything

2. Experience the poetry of color and creativity: When you see Blaise Cendrars: Poetry is Everything (through September 24th) at the Morgan Library and Museum. The exhibition traces Cendrars early career as a poet and publisher, working with artists and writers in the visual arts, music, and design including Apollinaire, Jean Cocteau, Stravinsky, and Fernand Léger to his monumental self-published poem La Prose du Transsibérien et de la petite Jehanne de France with colorful contrasting colors by Sonia Delaunay-Terk.
Then opening on June 23rd Bridget Riley Drawings: From the Artist's Studio ( through October 8, 2023), the first exhibition to display the drawings of one of the most celebrated abstract painters. Riley's artistic journey began with semi-impressionist figures, then moved on to pointillism, and finally, she became best known for her Op Art movement paintings in the 60s and 70s that explore the visual and emotional response to color. The exhibition will present 75 artworks created between the 1940s and 2000s that display Riley's commitment to innovation.

Connect your senses with the seasons: If you want a refreshing way to think about how you can connect your diet to the changing seasons to nurture your health, the Japan Society offered the free online talk Seasonality, Superfoods and Other Secrets of Japanese Cuisine with Yumi Komatsudaira, seaweed farmer and author of Japanese Superfoods about Japanese food and its connection with the seasons, longevity, and wellness. Komatsudaira presents affordable and accessible ways how you can incorporate the Okinawan plant-based diet into your life.

Ikebana Workshop

1. Master the art of Ikebena: When you take a Japanese flower arrangement workshop at The Greats of Craft on June 12th at 7PM. The class includes flowers from the local Luna Family Farms, a vase, and instructions on how to perfect your skill of arranging flowers, leaves, and stems the Japanese way.

2. Let your creativity flow: When you take the first steps in paper mache creation in the fun and soothing four-week workshop Paper Mache Magic: Beginner Workshop (June 3, 10, 17 and 24 from 12pm-2:30PM).
Then check out the free one-of-a-kind photography exhibition, Homecoming from The Anonymous Project at the FI:AF (French Institute: Alliance Fraincaise) (through August 24, 2023). The unique exhibition transforms spaces throughout the FI:AF with life-size photos of intimate photos of people sharing everyday moments in life. FI:AF, 22 East 60th Street.
And don’t miss the Museum Mile Festival on June 13th (6pm - 9pm) when eight museums are free to enter including the Cooper Hewitt, Guggenheim and Met.
3. Take comfort in a local hidden treasure: When you meet a beloved at Tsukushi, described by Food & Wine as “One of NYC’s best-kept secrets for Japanese home cooking.” Chef-owner Norihiko Manabe has a loyal base of followers for his omakase-style comfort food after having his first restaurant on 2nd Avenue for 16 years and cooking in New York City for 30.
